Best method to mount a 6cu ft pony?
Perrone makes a good suggestion. Halcyon offers a similar rig (http://www.halcyon.net/exposure/accessories01.shtml). IF you happen to be diving a backplate, you get also get bands for a 6cf that attach to your BP as well.

I invert my 6cf argon bottle on the lower left of the BP, rather than attaching it to a tank, and find it very easy to use. It doesn't have to be inverted, if used as a pony bottle.

It is kind of hard to make suggestions when we have no idea what you are diving. It really does depend a lot on what gear you use.

Assuming a standard BC with a single tank I would say any of the suggestions above are all good; although, the Halcyon product is most likely the most expensive.

If you are diving a BP/W then you could get two hose clamps that will fit around the tank and use those to attach two snaps or quick links that can be used to attach the bottle to the side of the plate.

If you are diving doubles I think a 6cf bottle is short enough to butt mount; same method as previous, just attach the bottle to the bottom of the plate.

There is no subjective best method; everyone has what works best for their style of diving, and what they are most comfortable with.
