What are the must read best instructional dive books?

I am a firm believe in constantly improving my dive knowledge and skills. I have completed my PADI advanced open water and the night specialty course. My goal is to eventually recieve my rescue dive certification. I found the PADI course books to be a little verbose and light on the technical aspects.

Here we go again!!

US Navy Dining Manual and NOAA Diving Manual are the best available. If you want something less comprehensive, yet better than the vast majority of agency texts, pick up SCUBA Diving by Dennis Graver available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
