Have been using the lotion dispensing Norelco for about 2 years. No problems, no sticky failures, etc. Have not found it to be cost prohibitive, but I do not ladle the lotion on - just enough.

newbie-in-fl once bubbled...
Looks like Norleco and Braun are winning so far?
Any specific models people like?
On the Braun, the one that has the charging/cleaning base: Model 7570

I also use the Norelco lotion dispenser (Advantage) razor. THe replacement blades aren't that expensive, and I noticed that the shave is appreciably closer when using the lotion. I use a bit more lotion, and it does gum up and use more batteries sometimes, but only when you don't rinse it with HOT water between uses. You can get away with a couple of uses with little effect, although a few days in a car makes the goo much worse. (I tend to go through periods of just leaving it in the car and rinsing only on weekends. THis dulls the blades quicker, but you can't beat getting in the shaving in during the drive! Of course, now that I have an 8 minute commute, I really don't have time between lights to shave, so I have to do it beforehand. (Not enough time to shave during my commute. Darn! ;))

I also blade shave, but the more often you blade shave, the worse your shave with an electric. FYI, seems like stubble is stiffer with electric, regardless of lotion/no lotion.

I don't suba dive but I was looking for a new razor and ran into this thread.

I purchased the Braun Syncro 5 months ago. It has since broke. It no makes a lot of noise and pulls the hair out by the root.
There was no damage done, it wasn't dropped, it just broke.

I contacted Braun two weeks ago and am still waiting for a response.

I've been a long time user of Norelco. I changed because I liked the idea of a self cleaning system.

I am going back to Norelco.

My Uncle 25 years ago convinced me to try a Braun when they were extremely expensive (dollar was weak at the time) and I was extremely poor. I have a very heavy beard and I had woreout a Norelco and a Remington in about 3 years time. I am on my 2nd Braun now and could still be using the original but I decides I wanted to try a newer model. They give a great comfortable shave.

The Germans really know how to make fine equipment and the Braun razor is no exception.

BTW, if you were wondering I am really hard to please. So any recommendation I make is very solid.

Another vote for the Braun Synchro - had mine a year now and never had an issue. Holds a charge for about a month's worth of shaving too, so it's GREAT for travelling (plus it's 110-240V). I replace the head and foild every 6 months though instead of the recommended 18 months - I think my stubble is thicker than that pouncy Euro-fluff :D

Don't spend the extra dollars for the LCD screen version - it doesn't shave any better!
