By the way, I normally cruise on Royal Caribbean - so this will be my first try on Carnival. I LOVE cruises - they are what you make them for sure. There is a ton of things to do and no one should ever be bored - I normally need a vaca after my cruise as I do so much LOL!

We will be on the Legend in December. It is our first cruise but we get to go without the kids. :D :D :D . Have you got a cabin number assigned?

Oh yes, I will have to look it up, but we are about in the direct center of the ship, which is a good place to be if you have not gotten your cabin yet. It really does not matter which floor level you are on, just as long as you are located about in the center of the ship. There is not much movement really, but you can sometimes tell it is moving up and down if you arent in close proximity to the center - especially if the seas are a little rough.

I have found I am rarely in my cabin, except to sleep, shower and change. So, I generally opt for the lesser expensive cabin in the center without windows (you can't see much from them anyway unless you pay $$$ for a suite with a balcony). I have paid the extra for windows, etc but was not in my room enough to really make that much of a difference to me.

I was on Royal Caribbean during Hurricane Francis a few years ago. You talk about a blast! I LOVED it!!! I was up on the very top of the ships in the bar watching it. It was the most fascinating thing I had ever seen! They held us at sea an extra day or two and off the coast of Cuba. It was awesome, but a lot of passengers ended up sea sick because of it. I have photos of the storm, it was incredible!

We are in 5207, right at the back. We wanted an extended balcony and my wife doesn't like heights so the gradual incline at the back will be better for her.

Very cool! I will look ours up and see where we are. I have to run for now, but will get that info and send it to you about diving places.

Indydivegal,
I saw your post about the cruise on the 16th. My wife and I (Mike & Jill) will be on the same cruise. I spoke with Carnival last night and they have deleted the Costa Maya stop due to the destruction of the pier during Dean and have replaced it with Roatan. Have you booked any dives during the trip? We decided to dive on the Carnival excursion in Belize, because it is so remote from where the ship docks, but are looking for alternatives for the other stops.

Dove all of those locations off a cruise ship several years ago except Costa Maya. Coz and GC were definitely the easiest and best diving. Belize was a long boat ride to Turneffe Atoll (1.5 hours plus each way). The diving after that kidney pounding boat ride over open ocean was mediocre at best.

if you dive Costa Maya and Belize you will miss land tours of the Mayan ruins (they do offer those, right?) I would do those instead of diving and save the diving for Cozumel and Cayman.

I always take a balcony toward the aft of the ship too. I also agree with everyone~~Dive in Coz and GC. Have fun!
