My favourite site is Sea Lion rock because the sea lions some times come out to play. I also like Land's End. There are lots of eels, puffers, rays and tropicals but not much for coral. The vis can be rotten or the vis can be pretty good but the water will be cool in Jan (probably hi 60s to low 70s). The whales should be in the area at that time too.
Have fun.

Sea Lion rock area is kinda barren if the sea lions aren't around, but you can just swim around the corner and you are at Land's End.
the across the bay sites like Twin Dolphins are good sites too with lots of swim thrus.

Hey Rich,

What operator are you diving with while in Cabo?

I will be there diving every day from the 2nd thru the 8th. I am still debating between a couple different operators. I prefer very small groups where the DM lets the very experienced divers, like you and I, get in some really great diving.

I see you are from the Spokane area - do you mostly dive Puget Sound? I am in the Vancouver, WA area.

I usually use Amigos Del Mar but I tried DonnaCabo (on this board) and I was happy with her services. She and I were the only divers a couple times.

Hello Divers.I like the crew at Baja Dive because they take small groups and always have all safty gear they also wash and store my gear.
They are located at the Tesoro Resort on the marina Boardwalk.

i too will be going to Cabo but in April. Does anyone know of any outfits that rent doubles tanks?

I dive with Amigos Del Mar myself. January is off season and viz can be hit or miss. As already mentioned, the water will be a little cooler.

Lands End does have a neat surgy little channel where you can go from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific. Nearby at Neptunes finger, there is a good chance of seeing some rays.

Across the bay, the Blow Hole is a good dive and there is a spot where a white tip or two sleep.

I guess thats three sites.
