Fish_Whisperer:
In my experience, either yellow or bright green.

That's exactly what I was going to say.

The right answer should be electric violet but the problem with that is obvious. Moving to the other side of the bluish hues on the spectrum lime green would have about the lowest wavelength. There's an additional factor, however, it's not all about wavelength and the corresponding absorption. Green is the color most easily perceived by the human eye. Just take a look at a chromaticity diagram and you'll see that green covers more area than the other two primary colors and their hues.

So, my move goes for green, even though i simply wear black.

Hehe.. i probably shouldnt say this after my previous rant about green, but I also wear black (and blue) :p

I voted "yellow", but in a series of night dives when three of us had identical laser lights of red, green or blue, the green was the most visible.
That's the issue of penetration vs. visibility.

Gene,
Fantasic!
Delighted to discover that there is indeed someone who researches and provides correct answers, rather than the I think, I believe, I heard, I thought, etc..So common to this bunch of bandits.

Keep up the great informative postings,

I am very disappointed.... I was hoping that neon pink would rank first... Then I'll go and buy my hotpink suit, fins, mask, and tank!!

You can always see my pink force fins! I also have a skin from the Dive Goddess, and it is the pink background in it that really stands out in pictures.

The photo was taken in the 70s. It was a twin set in a shell, the tanks were inverted and the valves were very easy to reach. the take off was still on the top.

Inverted twins. They're making somewhat of a noticeable comeback over here lately.

Sam, people on internet forums often couch their statements in terms of "in my own opinion," or "I believe," or "In my experience," because it keeps one from coming off as a know-it-all, and it invites a sharing of ideas, rather than setting things up in a "I'm right, you're wrong," dynamic. If everyone here is characterized as "a bunch of bandits" by you, then why are you even here? Go start your own forum, or participate somewhere where people measure up to your lofty standards. :shakehead

I beg to differ at least a little on the orange underwater. Here is my orange/red drysuit above water. It is more orange than shows in the picture.

When underwater it turns black real fast. We are in probably 35' of water at Point Lobos with 20' vis. I am the diver in the foreground. Notice the yellow hose in the background.

Here is a close up shot.

The NITROX tank stickers are super easy to see underwater :)
