I like the TUSA Liberator X10. I bought a pair in 1990 and used them in Hawaii for four years. I still have them in my dive locker as backups. Great fins. I now dive with Cressi Rondine A's which I've had for a few years. Also great fins. Quite a bit stiffer than the X10's but powerful, especially against current. At 25" long, not the easiest fins to pack for travel.
 
If I could get the Frogs with the Mares buckle that would be the best. As I see it the Mares buckle wins the day - Avanti X3!
 
The shop I used to work for used Tusa Liberators as a student fin. They are a pretty good fin for the $$ and have comfortable foot pockets.
 
I have a pair of lightly used Avanti X3s, size XL, with spring straps that I will be happy to sell you cheap.
