So can anyone tell me for amateur pictures aka., fun. What would be the best buy - low cost best performance model? Anyone has experience with this? I also had the old Tough 8010 with his case, noticed how already on 20m I needed more light then the standard camera flash. So now when I was thinking of buying the new camera and case I would also like to buy flash/strobe/light however it's called. Yet I am not crazy to give 900$ for a piece of light, so was wondering if there are guys here who know what should I buy or have a advice, thanks.

DiveInTheBlue,

I would recommend a single strobe and a video light. You will need a small tray and arm to hold the strobe; plus either a second arm or hotshoe attachment for the video light.

I am on my 3rd camera and housing in 5 years because this is like crack to me, but I still have the original strobe I purchase so keep that in mind when you are budgeting.

I use Sea & Sea YS-01 and this video light that I highly recommend for it's performance and price. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/cl...video-light-sales-us-199-promotion-price.html

I best prices I find on strobes are on ebay. There a several good shops to look for the tray, arm and hotshoe but Adam & Jack at Ocean Optical Sales are great to talk to and provide fair pricing.

You should be able to get all this for around $800, and this will be the best investment you can make in the outcome of your pictures.:D

I bought a sea & sea ys-03 which you get the strobe, arm and fibre optic cable for a bargain price. I am over the moon with the results.

We find many people getting great results with the Sea & Sea YS-03 kit for only $319.95; TTL strobe, tray, flexarm and sync cord!

For what you describe, it is hard to beat what Jack posted above. The only thing I would also consider would be a used UFL-2 or new UFL-3 if you're sticking to Olympus. The RC mode on Olympus is pretty nice for giving basically TTL connectivity through the fiber optic connection with minimal flash output. All control is through the camera, so it is just like shooting with the camera as you use it now, only with a lot more light.

Yes, the YS-03 strobe set is a great inexpensive option for the TG series cameras, but it only offers TTL. If you ever want to do any manual adjustments, the YS-01 is a great option as well.
