What are the best brands of foldable snorkels that are currently available in 2018 ?

Ideally, if it was possible to recommend a high-quality brand that can be purchased in Canada that would be great !

The current shipping costs and custom fees from the USA to Canada added to the unfavourable exchange rate can very easily double the cost of any item, no matter what size.

Also, are they really as safe and trustworthy as a regular snorkel ?

OK, so zero answers so far after two days ... :(

Many of us don’t use snorkels while diving. I bought a foldable XS Scuba snorkel and never used it.

That would be the "Cargo" model: is it a well-considered snorkel among the active divers ?

I rarely saw divers wear snorkels in my 50+ dives, so I don’t know if it is well-considered, but I was made aware of this snorkel (I think here on SB) when I wanted to buy one to put in my pocket.

I've got one of these roll-up snorkels. Amazon.com : National Geographic Snorkeler Snorkel, Nautilus Snorkel, Pearl Black 0532 : Diving Snorkels : Sports & Outdoors

It's definitely inferior to a regular snorkel because it's curved and flexible. That means that it sticks out of the water a little less and is slightly harder to use. I continue to dive with it because I don't want a snorkel strapped to my mask, and having this in my pocket is better than nothing at all.

I practiced with it once or twice, and I even snorkeled "for real" with it once. It will get the job done but it's not the best snorkel you can get. If I'm going out specifically to snorkel I'll bring a larger "regular" dry snorkel for the day.

a couple folks around here use a plain old j-tube and tuck it in a spot on their rig......

I got the Aqua Lung Sport Nautilus Roll Up which is similar to the one above. Easy to stow, but I have yet to use it. It occurred to me after my dives this weekend that it would have been perfect to try since it was rough, but I just automatically sipped on the reg while on the surface.
