It really depends what you like to dive. My husband and I vastly prefer the southern sites (Margate Bay, etc) over the northern ones, for a few reasons: We love the swim over the sand flats on the way out to the first reef/wall. There are little satelite reefs all the way out where we've had some of our best finds of critters and best sightings of juveniles, not to mention encounters with Spotted Eage Rays hunting more than once. We use the swim back over the sand flat as our safety stop at the end of our long dives. We also really like the double reefs that the southern sites offer, with the option of doing deep or shallow dives with super easy navigation. We enjoyed the northern sites on our first trip, but Omar hit before our second trip and the northern sites were hit HARD...the destruction was tough to look at.
We're returning to Bonaire after a 3 year absence and are anxious to see how the northern sites are looking now. We'd also like to go with Buddy Dive on their boat dive to Washington Park sites, so we'll see if we can get on that. Otherwise, the only thing we're "planning" is a refresher photography course with Tim Peters at Fish Eye Photo...otherwise it's dive, dive, dive!!
