Hi all... I'm organizing a group to dive the Bell Island wrecks of Newfoundland, June 14 - 21st. If you aren't familiar with the diving there, there are four huge wrecks that were sunk by German U-boats in 1942. Decades later, the wrecks are still largely intact, and have become beautiful reefs. The cost for the week (lodging and diving) is $4550.00 CANADIAN $$ including taxes. (Approx $3200 USD). Food and drinks are extra but most days we prepare our own meals in the Ocean Quest Lodge, so cost is minimal. You are responsible for airfare and you'd be flying in to St. John's Newfoundland. A shuttle is provided from the airport, assuming you arrive at about the same time as everyone else!
This trip is only open to experienced cold water divers. You must have a drysuit and proper cold-water regulators (or a rebreather). These dives can be technical or recreational. Depths drop to 150', but since the wrecks have a high profile, most dives are in the 100' range. Ocean Quest can provide tanks in all configurations as well as stage/deco bottles.
We have an excellent gang going so far with a mix of new and repeats, but we have space for a couple more people! This is spectacular diving, not easily accessed, and a unique location! "Newfie" hospitality is legendary.
Here are a couple of photos from last year... the cargo nets on the Rose Castle, and cargo booms on the Lord Strathcona.
If you have interest, please reach out and I can provide you with all the details!
Here is a link to a little film Jill Heinerth and Russel Clark put together.
