Beginner Dive Sites Near PDC/Riviera Maya/Akumal/Cozumel

My newly certified JOW buddy will be joining me for 2 dives when we visit Riviera Maya this month. His buoyancy is pretty great, and I don't have any concerns about his skill level. That being said, it will only be dive #5 for them. They have interest in seeing a wreck and we're open to any of the locations mentioned on this board: Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Akumal, Cozumel. We haven't narrowed down our dive shop yet, but I do want to learn about what dive sites are good for newly certified divers.
