This was sent to me by a female.
I assume she thought it was funny do to the fact that she took the time to send it.
If she thought it was funny, then she must not have been offended.
If she is female and not offended.....therefore it must be safe here.

I don't know, Dectek, some of the stuff that some females think is funny sends other females (and some males) into hissy-fits. Better watch out for those generalizations ;-) F'rinstance, anyone using my sense of humour as a guideline to what is "acceptable" to the general female populace is likely to wind up in serious trouble on the board (and/or sleeping alone on the couch :) ). Bio geeks can be a crude bunch, especially those of us who spend too much time socializing with engineers.

I like the article, BTW - I believe it's a companion piece to an article I read once on how PMS makes certain women behave like men do most of the time :)
I note that hair colour and redneck status seem to still be acceptable grounds for poking fun - I wonder if it would be ok to add self-referencing gender, national and/or ethnic mockery to the list. After all - a Canadian *should* be allowed to make Canadian jokes, no? And are we still allowed to make the joke that compares American beer to sex in a canoe? Just asking!

Dunno about anyone else, but I wouldnt mind hearing it. PM it to me if you like.

the punchline is *definitely* not family-oriented. Sorry about that - old joke that I was using as a "throwaway" example. Anyone who wants the punchline can PM so long as i'm convinced they are suitably elderly :)

I saw that thing a couple of years ago....started out as an e-mail thread, then someon put it in photoshop or something, and I got it again and again (probably due to the fact I drink a lot of beer around my friends).

Still is funny though

"Suitably elderly"... I'm not sure if I should be offended by that or not...

Good joke tho, thanks for sending it!

Well, the long grey beard in your profile pic does give the game away a bit ;-)
And you are a "senior" member (though I certainly don't want to offend any male on the board by implying that they possess one...)

"Suitably elderly" for this purpose is evaluated on the basis of profile info and/or the distinct absence of studlycaps in the request. As it is a joke about beer, I suppose that I should adjust for the legal drinking age of various nationalities which mens 21 for the US, 19 for most of Canada, 18 for where I am and mid-to late teens for much of the rest of the world.

make it 20 for Japan!

Girls can get married at 16, boys at 18 but you can't drink, smoke or vote until you're 20.... (well you can get fags, beer etc out of vending machines none of which have asked me for proof of age!)

But then this is "bizarre o world"!

Silly feline, that's a fish. If you squint real hard you can tell the difference.

I prefer "experienced" vs "senior" ;-)
