Assuming you arrive by car, what do you do with your car keys on a beach dive?
My car has one of those keyless things. Not a combination lock, but a single button that if the key transmitter is within 3 feet the door will open. This rules out hiding the key on the car. Is there something that can hold a car key transmitter and stay dry? (I mean really dry, my transmitter costs a small fortune to replace)

When diving a wetsuit, I used this case (attached to my BP/W harness).

Now (diving dry) I just put it in a pocket on my undergarment.

I drive a Toyota Prius with a Smart Key system. I can not risk a flood either. Most cars with that type of system also have a bypass and a small door key. The bypass switch allows you to leave the transmitter in the car. Read your vehicles owners manual.

With that said, I actually use a Hitch Safe. So far it has worked great and if someone wants in the car they are going to spend more time trying to break into the Hitch Safe than breaking the window out.

I use a hitch safe as the above post discusses, or I leave them with my gf if she's not diving.

that above hitch safe is like $70 bucks... **ouch**

get a Master Lock 5400D for about $18 to $20 and do the same thing and use it anywhere, not just on a 2" hitch.

Put keys in, lock to bumper, trailer hitch, trailer, sign post, etc...

You can buy them at Home Depot for $25 to $28 or Amazon for $18 to $20 on average

Option 2 is to use the bypass to turn off the proximity feature so that you can leave your keys in the car. if you don't have the keypad entry on the door, and your key has electronics in it, then get a copy of the key made and take it... yeah it won't start the car because it doesn't have the electronics, but it will open the door and get you access to your other keys that you stashed under the seat, etc...

Something to try...

I don't have a smart key system, but I do have an RFID toll road device that came with an anti-static bag. The instructions state that placing the device in the bag will make it unreadable by the toll system.
I wonder if the smart key would work the same way, so it might be worth a shot.
Then you could lock the main key in the car and take a plain valet key with you, that is of course if your car has a key hole.

I save money and just put the key in a small sandwich bag and bury it in the sand, weeds, or under a rock you keep track of, of course while no one is looking. The old keys without the chip that could get wet made this whole question easy, no? I guess you could just copy the key and take the metal copy with you on the dive. You could then lock the real key in the car and quickly turn off the alarm when using the copy to get back in. Who pays attention to those alarms anyway?

That may be a quick solution as I may need on for tomorrow! Thanks!! (now, where did I put that valet key 2 years ago...)

that might work, using the anti static bag as a faraday cage. if not you could get copper mesh of the right size (it will have the frequency on the back of the tag) and make your own. also, packing the tag between some soft lead weights might work too.

Apart from that, you could get a small dry bag to keep your keys in and just leave them on the beach.
a bag like this should work:

You can find that here for 20$
