Hi
Was cleaning up some old gear after a dive ( incredibly well looked after). I possibly squeezed the bladder too hard when clearing out the fresh water. It now has a slight leak. I opened up the bottom dump valve and found this inside. It's a Poseidon Techlift with a black bladder. Any ideas???
Thanks 👍

That is almost certainly a chunk of the bladder which had become brittle. Was it used much in a chlorinated pool?

Unless the bladder can be fully replaced, the BC is toast.

Never. It's like new and always stored indoors. Well the outside is like new. The bladder seems to be a thicker black colour though which is weird.

The picture looks like paper. If it leaks and you can’t see the whole bladder by removing it, toss it.

It's like real thin rubber and incredibly thin. Could it be excess 'glue' from the weld during manufacturing?

Who knows, can you remove the bladder?

I would guess it's urethane from the inside of the bladder. Unless you can replace the bladder, it's toast, as others have said.

No matter how well things are cared for, age takes a toll. Just look at me!
