BC Suggestions! I want your imput...

I have a friend that was going to sell me one of his bc's but backed out on the deal so I have been shopping around some. Please tell me what you all think especially if you dive with one of them. I am currently looking seriously into three models.

Genesis Phantom
Sherwood Avid
Sherwood Freedom

If you have any other suggestions around the same price please let me know. thanks

Any chance you can rent them first? That would be the best way to see what works for you. I have a new BC that felt great in the store but Im having problems with my bouyancy and attitude with it. May just need more tuning though.

I'm kinda in the same situation, but I require at least a 2XL size. Not many shops have that size to rent, but they are taking their XL's and adjusting them out as far as possible for me.

Comparing the Avid and the Phantom, I've seen that they're basically the same, although the Avid has the little snorkel pocket and more D rings.

I'm very happy with my Stratos from Triple-L. It's similar to the ScubaPro Glide but at about 1/2 the price. And fyi for jmaserati, I normally wear an XL and Triple-L's XL was too big for me -- I had to return it for a L.

Great customer service, btw -- they shipped the new one to me when I gave them the tracking # for the one going back. It really accelerated the exchange process because I didn't have to wait for them to receive the return before shipping the new one.

like Wildcards suggestion, rent or borrow BC before buying.

My initial BC was a PArkway with D clips. served my diving for years until i got a BP/SS and Bladder. )
