Hi Everyone,

I did a couple dives at Furry Creek near Vancouver, BC today - it's a pretty nice dive site. As I was walking back to the truck after dive two I was approached by a local resident who told me of a request being submitted to the government to obtain a private lease on the bay and foreshore area. This would put an end to diving at Furry Creek. The person that approached me is against the plan and was circulating a petition. He gave me a copy which I left at the IDC dive shop located at 2572 Arbutus St in Vancouver.

I can't swear to the veracity of the petition, or if the person that passed it along has any ulterior motives. I saw his vehicle leave the gated community and took him at his word that he lived there. He indicated that he's not a diver but has a friend that dives Furry Creek on occasion.

I would just hate to lose Furry Creek as a dive site. I did sign the petition.

Is there anyone in the Squamish/Furry Creek area that knows anything about this and can verify this information?

cheers

David

I have not heard anything on this but I will ask around. I live in North Van. I have only dove that site once and need to get back and explore it some more. I guess I better do it soon.
