My first BS was an old SeaQuest balance with the velcro strips. I never had any problems with them, but a friend of mine (using the same BC) lost one of his weight pockets @ 30 meters.
BC-Integrated weights held by only velcro?

I have seen velcro secured integrated weight pockets find their way out of where they are supposed to be. I might do the following:
With some minor modification, add a quick release buckle to secure the pockets to the BC. But if you find it too troublesome, might just go with the weight belt.

Not familar with the design but my cressi has velcro and snaps. You should be able to add a snap if there is any kind of a flap to easy your worries.
