BC for the big man

I'm back into diving after about 20yrs and am lets say bigger than before. I am about 275right now but losing and am looking for a BC that will fit a big man. Any ideas are appreciated.

Probably best to go with a backplate and wing rather than a BC since highly adjustable and customizable.

Another vote for the back plate and wing. Webbing infinitely adjustable and replaceable. Everything more streamlined and simplified.

I borrowed one this last spring for one dive, and then bought it, I was so impressed with it's simplicity, and the way it contributed to my control U/W

Definitely backplate & wing, fits all sizes, and superior to most, if not all, bcs.

If you don't want a BP/W I know for a fact that a Zeagle Ranger fits very well for a big guy. (although I may eventually migrate over to BP/W someday)

I went back plate + wing after getting fed up with being unable to hire a BCD that fitted for my OW and AOW courses, not looked back. From my 7th dive all the way through Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures I've used the same Backplate and Harness (bigger wing for twins of course).

I recomend a Zeagle Ranger in the correct size vest for you, probably either a 2X or a 3Xl, matched with the correct length shoulders.
I am 6'5 and 290# and I find the bp/wing and harness unsatisfactory.
Hard to get into and hard to adjust and uncomfortable by comparison

I am your size and wear an Oceanic Probe BC 2XL. It is actually a bit large and based on the fit, I suspect that an XL would fit. I really like it, check one out.

You might look at the new line of Aqualung. I just got the Dimension in an XL and it barely fits -- too big. I am 6' 2" 250lbs with wide shoulders. I could easily be comfy in a large.

What really matters are your chest and waist measurements. Most BCDs are highly adjustable now so you can probably find one that fits you without too much struggle.

I'm 6'1" and 275 with a 50 inch chest and squeezed into a rental Mares L BCD on a trip. I've since bought a Mares Icon XL and it fits just fine.

I have no experience with BP/W, only jacketed and Back Inflate BCDs, Back Inflate BCDs will allow for more size adjustment because it doesn't have to accommodate the air bladder wrapping around the front.
