It's a MicroSoft Wireless base Station MN-700...

i don't know if the game has a specific port (I'm sure it does) or even how to find out if it does, and I guess that's where I go wrong.

I can find out the WAN IP using the utility network but I guess I need help finding the port(s). I'm pretty good at troubleshooting my PC's but i have NOOO idea how to do anything with networking and all its issues.

Thanks for any help you can give. I'll poke around on the web and see if I can find out any port info for the game.

Edit: For Battlefield 1942:
How do I setup my server behind a firewall?

If you do not care about (or want) the server being listed in Ga*spy, then you only need to open udp port 14567 into your network. If you are behind a firewall/router that is also doing NAT, you will need to port forward udp port 14567 from your firewall/router to your internal server. On some routers you may also make your server a 'DMZ' host which effectively puts the server on the outside of the firewall. However, please realize that exposes your server and all of its potentially open ports (and exploitable code) to the rest of the dirty public internet

For Call of duty: udp port 28960

Is UDP port 28960 inbound or outbound? I'm setting it as an "application triggered port forwarding" but it asks for inbound tcp/udp and outbound tcp/udp.

For now I'll set them both to 28960 to test the server. Hopefully the port wont interfer with itself in and out... ??

Got the game shortly after it came out.
Absolutly LOVE Desert Combat. The only problem is that you don't have voice communication with teammates.
This can be fixed (sort of) by using voice communication software (TeamSpeak: free), but will only work with certain people who have the address of the TS server.

If you also like First Person Shooters (war type), check out Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. a very cool game.

Hey, in order to find your wan ip address, just go to http://www.whatismyip.com and it will tell you your wan ip address.

How is the game when you play off-line? I can't buy it over here but I can get it from a bit torrents website. That means no online game for me.

Thanks wstein. I can find my WAN ok, but I just cant make my server display it. My router assigns it 192.68.2.etc and i can see the server on my local network but i cant configure it so that other gamers can see the IP. It doesnt show up on Gamespy or the in-game internet servers, just my LAN.

I have set the computer as a virtual DMZ, i have set persistent port forwarding, I've even bought it dinner and given it a massage.... NOTHING works.

So how can i get this computer out from behind this router so that gamers can see my WAN? As stated, it's a Microsoft MN700 base station router.
I'm too old to figure this crap out.... this calls for a 16 year old with WAY too much time on his hands.

hey jive...

If you mean Call Of Duty, it's AWESOME. Truly. It's not easy even in easy mode but man the realism is really getting good with these new engines they are using. If you have an ok machine you should be fine. MOHAA maps lag a bit even on decent machines but COD somehow side-stepped that with its new engine. Sorry to hear you can't get it there. Not even from a web order??

Download the demo & good luck.

I still love the Beach on Wolfenstein... sniping is just too much fun!
