I am not a hard-core gamer, but I do love to play war sims on my computer. 00scuba got me Battlefield 1942 for x-mas and I cant stop playing it.

The online gaming is the best I have ever played...

Anyone else have this game with a fast connection? Let me know, maybe we can setup a game.

I've looked at this game, but haven't bought it. Maybe with this recommendation, I'll go out and get it.

If you like war games and the ability to fly planes, drive tanks, be a sniper, medic, assault, engineer, drive jeeps etc.....you would like this game.

I love sniping people.

If you like BF1942 you should give Desert Combat a go.

It's a (FREE) Modification of Battlefield; basically everything has been replaced with modern warfare vehicles/units like Apache Helicopters, Harriers, Blackhawks, Humvees etc. Also has new maps.

Have a look

It can be downloaded here http://www.desertcombat.com

Only negative thing I could say is the size of the download; 778 MB (full version) but I reckon it's well worth it.

Now it looks like I'm gonna have to get this game...

I have 'em all.... BF1942, Desert Combat, All of the MOHAA games, but by FAR the best game to come along since MOHAA is CALL OF DUTY.

If you like BF 1942, you'll love CALL OF DUTY. You can get a Demo at www.callofduty.com.

I have a pretty fast cable connection and would hook up with any hardcore gamer. I have 1 problem... I just installed a router for a home network and can't host a server, no matter what I do.... I have tried everything with the router settings, DMZ, ports, etc. No luck.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Thanks!

Does the game use a specific port? You may have to forward that port to your hosting pc.

As ReefGuy stated you should be able to map a port to the IP address of your server.
Of course anyone on the internet wanting to see your server needs it "WAN" address, or the address on the WAN side of your router. If you don't have a static IP address from your ISP and your router is set to DHCP then your WAN address may change from time to time. If it's a Linksys I may be able to help, but many other routers do basically the same thing.
