The recent recall of a product, from a major cell phone manufacturer, reminded me of a blog we wrote in late 2014 regarding batteries and safety. Lithium battery technology offers great energy density allowing for small, light weight, and powerful battery packs. High quality, protection, and testing is extremely important for safety. There is a wide range of battery cell manufacturers ranging from ultra high quality to the lowest of the low.
We ask that everyone look at the batteries that they use and ensure that they are from a reliable and reputable source. With the proper protection and quality components Lithium batteries are safe and reliable. Spend the time to know what types of cells/packs you are using, use the proper chargers, and follow manufacturers guide lines.
If a manufacturers claims seem too good to be true then they likely are not reliable. When it comes to batteries the old adage "You get what you pay for" holds true as well. Saving a few bucks is not worth possibly burning yourself or your home. Please be careful with any and all batteries.
