I mentioned my plans for last night elsewhere and someone asked for a report. 
TPWD: Caprock Canyons State Park and Trailway is near Quitaque, TX, south of Amarillo - a lovely high plains escarpment ranch north of town, and the abandoned railway running from South Plains village, by the town, and beyond. I got to the Monk's Crossing meeting place early so drove up the road to shoot some other pics first...
The road:
Gray Mule settlement is gone but the cemetery is still used for new burials at times.
Gravel silos by the old RR track
We had to dodge deer on the road, then feral pigs on the trail. An old cement RR phone booth.

Clarity tunnel, the last one used in Texas, and the flight...
