Hi there,

I'm new to this forum but have found it a great reference. My buddy and I were out this morning to dive the East Gloucester shoreline around Grapevine road. This area is near Bass Rocks and some just refer to the whole shore as Bass Rocks.

We parked on Grapevine road and brought our gear down to the beach across the street. There was a slight swell with some moderate surf. We donned our gear and headed out. The tide was about half way in and we were tossed around pretty good. After some futile attempts to make it past the ledge and into deeper water, we gave up and went to Folly (had a great couple of dives there).

Any suggestions on the best way to approach this shore? High tide or low tide? Entry paths between the rocks and ledges to deeper water? Secret notches or sandy areas? The swell looked manageable but for us it was not.

Thanks,
Sean Brown
