I clarify because I knew a guy that got a cylinder full of oxygen used to mix nitrox and used normal regs for it (and would breath off it after a pool session). Which is problematic for a number of reasons...

Well I thought even cleaned regs were only good for up to 50% oxygen...and I don't believe he was using o2 cleaned regs. Also the fact that he had that much crap while still doing his cert, and that he thought he would need it after a pool session, without any symptoms...other than that I guess its a fine setup.It is?
