Lastly, here are my notes...Mostly from this site prior to the trip:

Barbados

Accommodations:
ClearWater Apartments - Cheap, but nice - no A/C except in the bedroom, near Miami Beach
Accra Beach Hotel in Christ Church located on Rockley Beach
Sea Foam Haciendas | Ocean front rental apartments in Barbados

Food:
OPA. Yep, it is a Greek place and they have great food.
A little further down the road and right by the BoatYard is a place called DA KITCHEN
Oistins fish fry on Friday/Saturday nights
Tapas

Bars / Night Life:
Mojo's Bar - Meet "Garvey" (dreads and the Marley look). Plays in a rock band.
Mc Bride’s in the Gap is a cool bar
The BoatYard
Harbour Lights
Limelight

Shows / Entertainment / Tours:
Andromeda Botanical Gardens / Bathsheba (east cost, very pretty area)
THE PLANTATION: Also called the Roots and Rhythm Review
Of the two rum distilleries, I would recommend the Mount Gay tour if you are going to do just one
Catamaran tour - Tiami all day cat tour (covered boat)

Transportation:
Take the ZR's!!! The little white vans that are often pimped out and playing loud music. They are $2 BBD, but they are fast and helpful if you need anything.
Cab driver, Mike Gooding at 246-235-5985 or 246-423-5279 he will take good care of you. If you are in country, you do not need to dial the 246, only when you call from the states.

Other:
Bajun dollars (2:1 ratio)

Wow! Thanks so much for sharing your trip and pics., especially the turtle hatching. I have wondered what the diving was like there. Looks nice.

great info and thanks in advance for all the tips - and great shots especially the baby tutles. So looking forward to it in october. Hurricane Irene just kicked our ASS on Sunday so I hope our town and shop are back by then. THX again Cat

Thanks! I have a great turtle video to share, but it keeps getting kicked from Photobucket because the song is copywrighted...ugh. So I'm going to try another song, but I don't have time to do it until this weekend.

I have to make a correction...I can't seem to edit posts, but my inital notes were wrong and I didn't update them when I posted...

This is incorrect!
Diving Operations:
*My Pick* Dive Barbados LTD (Now called The Dive Shop LTD) owned and operated by John and Mary Moore

Correct informaion:
The Dive Shop LTD was my pick for my dives. You can view their website at The Dive Shop Ltd. for more info.

The Dive Shop Ltd was owned and operated by Abdulhai "paki" Degia since 1965, then his son Haroon took over in 1992 when "Paki" died. Haroon had 34 years dive experience and 17 years as Managing Director.

Haroon passed away in 2009 and Fatema (his wife) took over as the new Managing Director.

The Dive Shop Ltd is NOT OWNED by John and Mary Moore, however John Moore is a PADI Instructor who works for them when there is a need to teach courses.

I thought the shop had changed names, but I was incorrect.

Hey Red, Loved your pictures. I'll be in Barbados in January and wanted to know about the Cab driver, Mike Gooding at 246-235-5985 or 246-423-5279. Do you remember what he charged you? My friend and I would like to find a dedicated driver that will take care of us that isn't to expensive.

Great stuff. Glad you got hooked up with John. Do you have a pic of his new boat???

John was talking about selling the last time I was there and we went to dinner. Regardless, he is a great guy to dive with.
