Some estimates say that 90% of the Banggai Cardinalfish have been eradicated. Listed as endangered in IUCN Red List this small fish can be found in only two of their original seven sites. These are sold largely for aquarium trade. Indonesia is the sole range state. They object to this measure. The European Union has countered with a list of required steps that Indonesia must accept. Indonesia has accepted, so it will not be listed on Appendix II, but the species and the terms will be re-examined in a year.
