I guess my question is now, how much better is it than Bali for muck diving and weird creature like nudibranchs, pygmys, scorpionfish, small crab and shrimps etc.
12.3 times better.

Bali has some great muck diving if you know where to go. I've seen more species in Bali than Lembeh, & alot of the critters are bigger. I'm not saying that Lembeh isn't great - it is. If you have time to dive both areas go for it. If you looking for topside activities & diving I'd go to Bali. The hot spots are Secret Bay, PJ's, Tulamben & Seraya for great muck. Most importantly you need an excellent guide that knows how to find the small stuff.

I've been to all 3 places and my vote is for Bali if you wants it cheap and good. Go to the Northeast to dive Tulamben (wreck), Amed (reefs with huge barrel sponges) and Seraya (for the best muck diving in my opinion). Also, there are more topside things to do in Bali too and the resorts are nicer :D

Northeast:
Tulamben (Wreck & Wall):

Happy bubbles,
Jovin-

come to think of it, I'll change my mind and vote for Bali.

That place is already overrun by tourists (like myself) but still nice in certain areas and I'd rather save Lembeh for myself and close friends.

Thanks everyone! Thats great news. Bali is much cheaper, so if it has comparable diving Im a happy guy. Jovin, thanks for the links. I think what I am gonna have to do is take the long drives up to the dive sites cause my girlfriend wants to stay in ubud.

I've dived all three.

In terms of critters Lembeh>>Bali>Mabul

Lembeh wins hand down though bali and mabul are good.

In terms of things to do top side Bali>>Mabul>>Lembeh.

Bali has shopping and cultral attractions, mabul has a beach , lembeh has very little top side.

Cheers,
Rohan.

Rohan,
In your opinion, would I be making a mistake to go to Bali and not visit Lembeh despite the extra cost and travel? Or is Bali almost as good and will quench my thirst for critters?

Where are you? If you're travelling from the US or somewhere far, my vote would be that missing Lembeh is a big mistake--unless you're planning on returning to the area.

Yes, I am travelling from New York. Not sure when I'll ever be back. Would everyone agree it would be a big mistake to miss Lembeh and just dive Bali?
