Hi All
I'm an experienced (000's of dives) diver heading to Bali next week for a break - does anyone have any tips for local operators with whom to do day trip diving -

I'm staying in Nusa Dua and keen to head to Nusa Pernida/Lembongan, not too fussed about heading back and diving the Tulamben/Liberty sites again.

I see the threads on this topic are a couple of years old so I thought I'd start a new one!

Thanks in advance!

thanks Wingy - I'll check them out

Staying in the Southeast corner of Bali means long commutes to reach the dive sites. Short of staying in other areas of the island, you will spend hours every day in a bus or boat.
Dive sites like Nusa Penida, Padangbai or Tepekong Mimpang are the least cumbersome to get to. You can still expect to spend a minimum of 2 hours to get to and fro dive sites each day if you stay in Sanur, Kuta, Seminyak or Nusa Dua.
There are many reputable and long established dive centres in this part of the island. I would personally choose among the ones that operate their own boats

Hope this helps a little!

Hi. My wife and leave on mid-next week for Chinese New Years. for Bali. We will go to Nusa Pernida/Lembongan. Check the surf report. So far 15-20 k/h winds and 1.5 -2 m swell.

We will stay at two fish on Nusa Lembongan, mostly since we did not want to commute across from Padangbaimor or Sanur. PM if you are nearby.

Swell in the Indian Ocean has been strong of late. We did not organise any trips to Manta for 2 weeks, since the speedboat services to Gili Trawangan were shut and the harbour master had prohibited departures. It looks better tomorrow and for the 3 next days according to MagicSeaweed with 4ft swell. Should be good hopefully. ..

I was down at Serangan this morning, looks much better than its been the last 2 weeks. We also had to cancel a Penida trip this past weekend

Any thoughts on what these sea conditions will likely mean for Tulamben/Amed this weekend?

Better yet, anyone there at the moment can report first hand?

Thanks!

Update on yesterday's trip to Manta Point: calm seas and 7 mantas. Happy divers!

The weather in the Indian Ocean (South of Bali) is entirely dissociated from the weather in the Bali Sea (North of Bali). You can have waves in one place and not in the other.
If interested in weather related info at sea in Bali, do have a look at the weather section of my website: http://gekodivebali.com/webcam/webcam.html
This will give you access to current conditions, records & trends, tides, swell, etc...
