I think i've narrowed my selection down to these two BC's. I will be diving predominantly cold water if this has an impact. I do like how the black diamond has more factory D-rings than the balance. I will be buying used, so the 2010 balance is probably out of the question.

i just bought the black diamond few weeks ago. i having a problem that the bc keep dragging me up on my left side when i am diving. it really annoying me alot and i have no idea about what wrong on it.
at the first, i thought it is the weighting i am using which make it not stable or over weight at certain side, so i keep tuning my weight on the bc include the upper and the lower weight system. but the problems still remain.
after all about this, i just found out the main reason that keep dragging me to the another side when i am diving. it is because the air is in the bc do not distribute balance to the U wing. which mean there are more air at the left side and less air at the right side. and it end up the more air side is dragging my body up and it twisting my whole body.
i really have no idea how to solve out this serious problems about this BC.
are they anyone have the same problem as me, who using the Black Diamond ?

If the BC were round and located in the center of the back it would not pull to one side. Being u-shaped and less than full, the air will naturally go to one side. This is inherent of the design.

I suppose the best way to solve it would be to have a system that filled 2 individual and totally separate bladders equally

I have a black Diamond and absolutely love it. The only thing about it is that it is on the bulky side, but thats not a problem in the water just when trying to pack it.
Sentlon, i had a similar problem on one of my first dives but it ended up being a weighting issue

I dive a balance for teaching and dive it year round, there is not a whole lot too it and offers great range of motion, also it packs great for travel.

I also have dove the Black diamond, also a good BCD but, more robust than I need/like.It does have more options for attachment points but, the balance has enough for all the crap I carry when I teach.

it sounds like the black diamond will be my first choice, and the balance my second. I dont have to worry about packing it away since i will be doing diving locally on the lakes here.
