By the way, for those of you that own an Inon 100 degree wide angle lens:

Check out the bottom of this page:

http://www.marinecamera.com/inon.html

The "fisheye" dome for this lens (at the bottom of the page) is pretty new, I think...

But one of my buddies that I went to Fiji with installed one of these on her Inon lens, and I was BLOWN AWAY by her images she took with it.

The images had GREAT sharpness corner-to-corner, and she got some fabulous scenic reef shots (and some cool close focus shots) with it.

I don't own this lens, nor do I own the dome, nor do I own a camera that will use them, so I'm not trying to advertise for it.

But I was REALLY impressed with the photos she got with this attachment to her Inon lens.

Avatar, yeah, I have to admit that I don't understand why it works either. It really doesn't make any sense.

Hello,

Actually it does make sence. These custom modes uses a selective range for camera settings. i.e. macro mode may only use the f/stop which coresponds to the sharpest settings for the lens. Full automatic mode usualy has no limitation while macro mode usually priortizes the f/stop.

Thank you for many replys.
About my camera equipment. I use

C5050Z
PT-015 Housing
Tray and lockline flexible arm
Sea and Sea ys90Dx strobe
Inon UWL 100 WA lens

I am very intresst in the reply about shoting in macro mode, can that help my problem.

And do you think I will have this problem when I shoot from more distance?

About the pictuers, the fish is a swedish fish called "Lake" in swedish, dont know the english word for it.

If you want to look for more pictuers taken with this camera go to this URL

Ed, I don't mean to sound argumentative, but this is absolutely incorrect.

This isn't a metering program (like "night", "backlit", or "sports").

The macro setting on these cameras changes PHYSICALLY how these cameras actually focus.

For instance, when I am using my camera (an Olympus E20n), if I use the camera in "normal" mode, I can focus on things from roughly 12 inches away to infinity.

But when I put my camera in macro mode, I can focus on things that are roughly 6 inches to 18 inches away from the lens.

EVEN WITH the camera in Macro mode, I can STILL shoot in manual, aperature priority, shutter priority or program modes, and can set my aperature and shutter speeds to whatever I want them to be.

Macro mode changes the magnification properties of the lens and the reproduction size of the image on the CCD, and it does so by physically altering the position of the lens elements.

Why this works with wide angle lens attachments (for me anyway) remains something that I don't understand.

Thanks,

-david

Hello,

I stand corrected.

Sweden78, what focal length was your CAMERA's lens set on? It looks like to me you took the picture with the WAL adapter screwed on but used your camera's zoom to zoom in to the fish. This will increase corner distortion on you image. Perhaps Blacknet or Avatar can explain why. This happens on my Oly PWC-01 as well. You get least or no corner distortion with your camera's zoom set to the widest. For macro or close-up photography you're best taking the adapter off.

Also, if your preference is to mount the adaptor on the surface then you must make sure there's not air trapped between it and the port - ie 'burp' the adaptor once you are underwater.

Now, I haven't used the Inon lens, but I have used the WA lenses from Light and Motion for both my Tetra and my Titan setup, and the results are the same for both lenses: leave the camera on Macro mode for ALL shots.

I'm not absolutely certain but I believe that the lenses sold by L&M are indeed INON WAL 100s.
