I am checking the board for reccomendations in the $300.00 - $500.00 range (preferably closer to 3) Will I get something decent for that?
 
Yup, you can. You do not need the latest 7MP+ camera to get nice results. If you aren't sure what you want, check out the 4MP+ range - there are still housings available for many of them.

And if you goal isn't to blow them up huge or to crop them down small then blow them up huge, 4=5 MP is going to be fine. I recently had an image from my trusty Canon A70 3.2MP (no add on lenses) published just over A4 (about the size of a normal piece of paper) in a national newspaper. So it can be done :wink:

There are a ton of choices out there. Have a look at recent threads on various models, do some comparisons, shop around and let us know as you have specific questions. You can't go too far wrong with any model that has a housing and offers full manual control of aperture and shutter...
