Interesting thread with some good ansers.

It doesn't do anything for my faith in the industry but it says a lot for the ability of a diver to figure things out on their own.

Don't trust your safety to a DM.
Only trust your training within the scope of your training. If your traing consists of following a leader at 30 ft then that's what you're qualified to do.

After reading this thread I think most of you will do well. Go slow and don't let yourself be pushed. There's as much to see shallow in good conditions as deep in bad conditions. If a charter doesn't have shallow and one available they'll try to sell you the other.
