So I have a video strobe, that is not functioning but maybe 30% of the time, if that. It seems to work until at depth, then simply doesn't come on. Have mutlipe sets of charged batteries, etc. Backscatter wants me to send it back to them, have it for a month, then send it back or a new one. What am I to do in the meantime, does this seem reasonable? Do they have a loaner program by chance? This video light has done this from the start, and honestly, I'm not sure I even want it back if it's been 'serviced'.

Thoughts?

TIA

I've had good luck with Backscatter service. Been in a similar situation of "send it back and we'll take a look." Not really much else they can do over the phone. They aren't cheap, but not outrageous either. I have had them tell me they can fix something but it'll cost more than replacing it, so at least they are honest about that.

As to what you can do in the meantime... you don't have a functional strobe now, so it'll be no different if you are lugging it around on a dive not working or out getting fixed. Depending on how expensive the light was from the beginning it may be worth repairing, or it might be better to start over. Did you spend $300 or $3000 on it? If it was always like that, maybe it'll get repaired/replaced under warranty.
