Hello, I just bought this lens and understand I need to burp it at the beginning of every dive. My question is the lanyard that was provided with it is very short so I have to undo it to take the lens off to burp it and screw it back on. I’m concerned that if I drop it it’s gone. I can’t seem to find a good way to attach a lanyard where I can screw off the lens to burp because of the it has to be mounted on the lens. What is everyone doing for this? Have I totally missed something on this?

As far as I know the M52 has fairly large gaps that allow it to freely flood. Mine is 2+ years old and I never remove it. I will say that sometimes on a mucky dive that particulate gets between the case and lens and causes the autofocus to go wonky. I just zoom out and swish the camera a bit and then go back to taking pics.

Thanks for your input. I was just going by the Backscatter video which says to burp. I really don’t want to have to do this!! I did come up with a unique lanyard but after reading your comment I’m wondering if I can get away with this too. Thanks again!
