Hey all,
I'm looking to attach my Hollis S-series wing to my OMS backplate. I have two cam straps and I'm not using a STA for this single tank set up, so I want to use screws to secure the wing to the backplate. Of course, I could just buy them off of divegearexpress.com, and they recommend the plastic screws over the metal screws, as the metal screws will supposedly scratch the tank.

If anyone could direct me as to the size of the screws, then maybe I can go out and find them at Home Depot or someplace similar instead of having to wait for them to arrive in the mail. If anyone has some alternative suggestions for attachment, those would be well received as well. And finally, is it really worth going for plastic over metal screws? I can't imagine the metal screws would wreak havoc, but then again, I don't know that much about this set up.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hows about threading the bands through the slots.

Got some hollis stuff yesterday. Yeah right, a catalogue.

Brand new. Mint.

tell me how do you like that Hollis wing? i too am going to get one to mount on my OMS BP. I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about the Hollis wing.

thx for your time,

SeaFlea

If you use the Sexbolts, might I suggest that you use a dab of LocTite BLUE on the threads. I've used them for a number of years without much hassle (aside from not having a screwdriver bit wide enough for the head). If not rinsed properly after salt diving, they will corrode a bit on the threads, but that comes off with some soaking or vinegar.

I have scratched some tanks with them, but it's really inconsequential when you consider normal wear & tear from dive boats.

If you're not using an STA, the metal screws are overkill. The screws only help to keep the wing attached to the backplate when the tank is not attached. Once the tank is secured, the wing isn't going to go anywhere.

Save the $13 for an air fill.
