I have an MC pack and it covers the bottom wing, but not the top one. The bottom one is the one likely to snag on you though....

whats the sollution for the wing thats sticking out? thanks:)

A slightly deeper V in the plate.:) This is one reason why my plates are just a little bit different bend. Handles both the screw and the wings.

What do you mean by a deeper V? coz I just purchased a Halcyon 27lbs. wing complete eith bp, harness and the mc pack. And wile i was checking it out the boltwing would post some concern on your wet suite or your back. can the bolt be inserted the other way around? Or would it create a problem with the tank when it is attached? thanks:confused:

The center "channel" is about 1/4" deeper to the flare break to provide more clearance for band bolt nuts, STA screws and wing nuts.

When combined with my STA the total tank centerline (valve) height off the back is effectively the same.

Inserting the bolts "the other way around" on a STA or STAless single system simply jacks the tank centerline up higher.

I believe Walter is talking about his doubles rig. His home made band set is 100% functional for his uses, but to describe it as "unique" is an extreme example of an understatement!

I also wanted to know if anyone knew of a pad available for a backplate.

An old pair of blue jeans can be rather readily converted into a "pad" with a sharp set of shears, a sailmakers needle and some kevlar thread.

I've been mulling over a few ideas for a pad. I have black uncoated cordura and grommets laying around but I need something for padding that wouldn't rot, would dry quickly, would stiffen the pad, and wouldn't add too much buoyancy.
A thin piece of neoprene sandwiched between the cordura seems best. I would like to attach it to the plate with 4 bolts in the corners of the pad and beable to bend it away from the top and bottom to easily access the wingnuts. I would like a stiffer material, maybe a plastic or stiff rubber, to sandwich between 2 pieces of cordura to help maintain shape, but could also be bent to get to wingnuts.
Any thoughts?
