Hey

After a 3 year or so break I did my first 2 dives today off the coast of Abu Dhabi. The first one was basically a Scuba Review with a quick visit to a reef - seen a leopard ray which was cool considering I have done all of my diving in the north sea and the most exotic life you see in there are cod or used condoms...or cod IN used condoms.

Second dive we went to another reef and although I was paired with some guy who didnt know what BCD meant (I kid you not :shakehead:) and who liked swimming away on his own, I loved being back in the water and just wanted to dive all day long. It was like I had never been away :D

On another plus, my wife started her Open Water today as well which will help in avoiding divorce when I want to spend my weekends on a boat :cool2:

Congratulations!!! Glad to know you've been u/w, I just posted on your last thread ("so annoyed...") and now I see you got to dive after all!! That's just great!!!!

It's quite a lottery when we don't choose our own buddy and I've been through some weird experiences... usually the guy just goes on as if he was solo and it's on us to take care of the dive... and of the buddy!! But, as I said in the other post, every diving day is a good day, no matter what!

I'm happy your wife is going u/w too. I wish her good luck and safe diving! I was concerned about this before I could convince mine to get her OW certification (had to take her for a week in a really expensive resort in Cozumel to talk her into diving...) but now we dive together most of the time and, most of all, she does know what it means to me, so she's always OK when I go diving, even when she can't go for some reason.

Take care, have fun and enjoy your dives!!!!
