Greeting all - I'm getting back into diving after a little lay off - 25 years. Yes I just went through a complete PADI certification program at my LDS. If NAUI's stone tablets went back far enough I could have NAUI & PADI, but they don't so I'm happy with PADI.
I'm in SoCal Torrance, Redondo Beach area and having a BLAST. The gear is a bit more sophisticated than it was in the early 70's. My first BCD was a recycled life vest off an old PSA jet. The CO2 trigger rusted up after the first dive and I could only manually inflate it. My first wetsuit was a two piece that cost less than 50 bucks and only slowed the water down as it flowed from wrist to ankles. How times have changed. I look at the museum at my LDS and most of the antiques on display, I have used. My daughter, also a new diver, just laughs at me. Well she laughs at me anyway but the display at the local LDS is just one more reason.
Anyway - Glad to be back diving. Hope to be an active member of the scubaboard community and meet more fellow divers.
Thanks
Rich
