For those living close to Austin, this might work out.

However I think I can predict the future of this airline... Bankruptcy, shutdown for violations by the government, or a HUGE price increase. :shakehead:

The whole deal sounds a bit shady. How does a $9 flight turn into $175? Converting an old terminal for their own use? Strange Baggage fees and restrictions with add on costs?

I don't know, but when I fly I want to be safe, and I want my baggage to be somewhat safe.

I'm sure folks will let us know how this goes. I hope they get more than they pay for! :D

OTOH, we see $99 deals from Denver to Cancun now and again, but that is one way.

Ryan has been a charter carrier for many years, this isn't some new start up. I orginally flew them in the early 90's to Hawaii. From what I remember, it was a Funjet package and Funjet had chartered Ryan as their air carrier to Hawaii, like Funjet used to use Mexicana and Allegro airlines, I think they use someone else now, maybe Ryan.

I don't know how they are able to offer this price range, I suspect these are limited seats that the airline is trying to fill, to have fully booked flights. Regardless I do belive the deal is on the up-n-up.

We have also used Travelzoo.com before and have gotten great deals like this in the past. We got $62.50/ night at a resort in Grand Bahamas a couple of years ago.

How does a $9.99 each way flight turn into $175?...easy, taxes:11: both governments want their cuts, 9/11 security fees & flight insurance...still have to pay that stuff.

Well, Ryanair is involved, but Viva is a new airline. Nonetheless, you should be fine for now. Trip insurance is especially encouraged. I don't think they offer much in the way of any problems, including new luggage liabilities limits maybe. Read close, ensure, and insure.

They're selling a few at $10 to get attention, not many...

My girlfriend (H-Town Diver) heard about this deal, promptly emailed me and now we are all booked for a nice little mini vacation. Total flight cost for TWO was 373.21 (RT)! Unreal! No, we didnt get the 9.99 flights, but we did get 19.99 and 39.99 (plus taxes). We are staying at Coral Reef Inn. It's a small little B&B type place that has spectacular reviews on tripadvisor. I emailed them and one of the owners called me back and we spoke for around 20 minutes. He was quite patient and detailed with me which I really appreciated. The Dive OP they use is Dive Paradise. The hotel rates and dive rates are excellent. We've been looking at their website for about a year now hoping we'd go someday. Here's a link.
Welcome to the Coral Reef Inn in Cozumel, Mexico
