I have three Suunto Vypers 6-7 years old with thousands of dives on each and only one has been back to the factory to be replaced (after a couple thousand dives). And their customer service was outstanding. :-) I have owned an Orca, a Marathon, and a Commander, but the Suunto gets first prize with me.

Suunto Solution - 15 years and counting. Depth sensor went out around 7 years and Suunto replaced the sensor.

Suunto Companion - 11 or 12 years and counting.

I'm now diving with a Suunto Cobra (purchased used, 5 years and counting) 'cause I wanted the Nitrox option and using the Solution as my backup when using air.

I've had very good luck with the Suuntos. After about my tenth dive with my Vyper, I was heading home at about 45 mph and noticed something rubber looking bouncing down the road behind the car - my new computer!!! I left it on top of the car. 4 years and 12-13 hundred or so dives later it finally died and I think it ws my fault. I get Oceanic at dealer cost (I'm a charter, can't retail) so I use them on the boat, but boy do I go through the Veos. Oceanic is good about replacing them, but it's a hassle to have to do it. I picked up another Suunto Gekko to wear on my wrist so I know I've got something I can count on.

Wow, great response so far. Looks like a lot of you have had your computers for quite a while. Maybe I need to research investing in another brand. Are some brands more renowned for dying or, on the flip side, lasting the test of time? It looks like a lot of you Suunto owners have had great luck with yours.

4 1/2 years on my Cressi Archimede with only one battery change. Love it!

6 years and a few thousand dives, Suunto Vyper, and the batteries are available at the drug store to easily change yourself.

probably 7 years on our Suunto Vypers and 5-6 on our backup Gekkos with no problems. Before that had some air-only Suuntos for years with no issues, sold those and they're probably still ticking.

I've had a Genesis Resource since I first started diving a computer in 2000. It just flooded itself to death on my last dive, so you can put me down for my computer lasting 7 years.
