Gotta vote again. 0.79, in cold water in a drysuit with a bit of current. Consumption has come way down with more dives. Funny how that works. I get through more gas in cold water in a drysuit than I did in tropical water in a rash guard. That's hardly a surprise. It will be interesting to see how much I get through the next time in warm water in a rash guard.

I am not. There isn't much shame in being a gas hog, at least not for me. The exercise of streamlining and getting efficient under water has been a an interesting journey. The best part is that it won't end.

That’s why I like AI — hard data over hundreds of dives doesn’t lie.

I also believe that there should be no shame on this because (1) part of it is l physiological (my wife will always have lower gas consumption regardless of how much more streamlined, calm, proficient, etc I am) and (2) because doing estimates on an optimistic consumption can be fatal when doing gas planning.

It’s great to try to improve over time but your SAC today is what it is and you should plan based on it, not on your best 1% consumption.

This thread is nine years old today and is still going strong.

I have been following my own RMV for 15 years now. I have my RMV for 2,014 of 2,045 dives during those years, 98.5%. I already had nearly 450 dives before I started following my RMV. These dives represent a wide variety of recreational and light decompression dives with regard to water temperature, visibility, current... All were with a single back mount cylinder, many solo with a pony, and all were in a wetsuit. My gas consumption has not changed much during this period, a little lower, perhaps with a little...
