Does anyone know if there is a palce on Bonaire to rent HP 100 steel tanks? Are there any options other than aluminum 80s.
Thanks

Not that I have seen? Buddy dives does have Tech equipment, but you would have to call or email them! I have never needed more than an 80, but maybe you might consider slower and not so deep? Good luck!

...yeah, the Bonaire 'standard' tank are AL: 80's and AL 63's.......yoke valves, NOT HP DIN. There are a few techie shops that offer larger capacity tanks, but I think it will be too much of a pain to be chasing after them.....shore diving in Bonaire is a lot of work and 'logistics' can be something of a pain...you will be a little pack mule schlepping tanks back and forth all over the place....the odds are good trying to keep yourself supplied with larger capacity tanks is going to be more work than it's worth....if you've gotta have more 'gas', I'd suggest maybe 'slinging' a spare AL 63 along with your main backgas AL 80....bearing in mind many of the shore dive entries/exits are rather rocky/difficult, which you will soon find out if you're new to Bonaire.

I rolled around like a ball of doe at the Hooker! With my camera I wouldn't want more weight than I had! Luckily my friend was able to grab the camera from me, as I held it up, as the surge tossed me on my back in the rocks! LOL It had to look funny as hell, with some fire coral around it can get interesting! My same friend did a face plant at Tori the day before on a slippy rock! Lucky for him it was two feet deep and no big rocks! :eyebrow::rofl3:

.....it's pretty common for Bonaire divers to return home with assorted battle scars after their vacations...I've had female divers, upon returning home and back to work, tell me their co-workers have gone as far as to ask them if they're victims of spousal physical abuse, they come back that badly cut/bruised sometimes.......and yup, Bonaire definitely has some Fire Coral in the shallows...nasty stuff !

Walt at Rectec is likely to have them as well but I have to agree with the rest, what on earth do you need a 100 for? I get at least 75 minutes out of an 80 and often times 90, I need a rest by then. If you don't get at least an hour out of one, you need to be looking at why not...

unless doing some tech dive there you really do not need all that gas. When I dive there I usually use a 63 cu tank and have plenty of time with it.After a 45 min-1 hour dive I still exit the water with 600-800 psi easily left in it.

The diving is so easy and low stress in Bonaire that it is very easy to run out of bottom time long before air.........

80 min night dive on Bari reef with son, still had 700 psi.........
