Hello, anybody get/will go out for a dive this week?

Today I went to Portsea Hole. 40min dive to 30m or so. Wasn't much to see beyond that depth so we never went to the bottom of the Hole! There were beautiful sponges around and heaps of fish. It is a Marine Park so seemed very populated :)

The best part of the day was our second dive though as we got to dive the St.Paul's backbeach again! We've been looking each weekend for months but always big surf so not diveable. Today there were NO waves :D Anyway, there was a bit of surge but the viz was at least 20m :shocked2: Was amazing! The landscape is spectacular too, lots of overhangs, cave type areas, and weird looking plants (but didn't get any good shots though this time :(). Saw heaps of carp as well as a few schools of trevally (I think it was trevally anyway). Getting out was a huge hassle though as we missed the proper exit (though not by far) so had to surface going through this giant tunnel that was like a washing machine. Was hanging on to the rocks very hard so I wouldn't be sucked back through the tunnel! We also saw heaps of abalone and two crays - one was HUGE so Paul took off all his gear and swum under the ledge to look at it, but he scared it off pretty quick so no pics :(

We've got a night dive planned for Wednesday and then next weekend SYDNEY!!! :bounce: :bounce:

Sponge Garden on top of Portsea Hole - not great quality I am afraid...

Cute Leatherjacket - believe it was a Brown-striped leatherjacket (Meuschenia australis)

St. Paul's Backbeach - usually there are large waves and surf - pic is blurry as the camera case had water on the front soz!

Oh I forgot to mention, it was my buddy's 100th dive today! However, he did not remember it (and I forgot too actually) and wants a picture with him holding up a slate saying 100... So he has arbitrarily set his dive total back to 98 so he can do his 100th in Sydney :rofl3: :rofl3: I told him I still know :P

Dove the Kiama out of Terrigal on Sunday AM. Finally took my camera diving after having the housing sitting on a shelf for over a year. No shots worth sharing, really need lots more practice.

:depressed: no diving here this weekend ... getting over a cold and was told conditions weren't that great as well as resting up for next weekend ... as long as the predicted rain doesn't eventuate :depressed:

Oh I wouldn't worry if your pics aren't crash hot (doesn't stop me posting mine :P). It's more of a fun thing to share our pics to show where we've been diving rather than to show off our photography skills. :)

Uh oh rain for next week? Does that cause any problems with diving up in Sydney? I.e. ruin viz stuff like that?

:popcorn:They aren't predicting heavy showers so it shouldn't effect the viz. Viz will be more effected by the tides than the rain.

We normally don't dive in the rain... hate to get wet! but for you we will make an exception:rofl3:

This was my first photo. Then I realised that I was trying to rotate the shutter control the wrong way, and that I was narc'd, and that I really should just put the camera away and concentrate on the task at hand. I took it out again during deco but made the mistake of trying to use the flash. Nothing turned out.

There's not much left of the Kiama except a large boiler, but a very nice dive nonetheless.
