Took a group out to start a Deep course on Sunday, Magic Brisbane Diving, 20+m vis at Arizona and Las Vegas, and everyone came back safely, Giant Qld Groper, Pelagics, nice corals, and a great new Dive Site for me!

Cheers,

Steve

Who do you instruct with in Brisbane Steve?

Got in under the wire for this week!

Did two great dives today on Ningaloo. Viz varied from about 8-15m and there is a lot of food in the water. Water temperatures felt colder on dive one than on dive two - I'd guess about 25 and 26/27 ish. A degree tends to make all the difference! Surge on dive one was moderate in places making things challenging, but overall the conditions were quite nice.

Turtles, turtles, turtles everywhere on dive one. Dive two I did a shrimp dive and spotted about 100 different types (ok, not that many but lots!).

Also had an enormous cowtail ray snoozing in the sand next to a medium sized roughback ray, various rays from tiny to humongous hanging out under ledges and the cutest 4' wobbie pretending to be the sea floor, he was so covered in sand with hingeback shrimp running all over him. Unfortunately, I had the 100 on and couldn't get a shot of him with the shrimp because when I would back off all of the masses of baitfish would swoop in and obscure him! Big schools of fish just hanging around doing circles.

Baby batfish, big octopus out and about & defending their holes, coral trout hunting, giant puffers and a few different types of angelfishes getting cleaned. Pretty active today, but not insane. Very nice.

Camera gear is soaking now so will post a piccie or two a bit later. Edit - quick turtle photo
