Thats a bit of a healthy swim! I used to go off the boat ramp but never found much to see on the way. I usually just go off Bower Lane near the cafe then turn left.

I did Shark Point on Sunday and had a bit workout in the current :) We went the wrong way and burnt through the air quickly on the way back. I only had 18 bar by the time I got back to the pool. Was not a great feeling...

I was very tempted to pop up and see where we turned around, (59mins into the dive) but didn't. We go very slowly, so not certain how far we got.

Actually have never done Shark Point ... been there about half a dozen times, but conditions have never been right!

Yea was a great dive at Shelley Beach! Thanks to Fish + Petunia for taking me out, Petunia for loaning me some gear and also the almities for loaning me more gear :) I had 17C recorded on the dive which was like being in a warm bath (no really!), big difference from Melbourne. We did 101 minutes so I felt I got a decent dive in!

I got to see lots of things I don't see in Melbourne - blue gropers, wobbegong (these are rare for me to see in Melb!), gloomy octopus, lots of different fish I don't know the names of, sea urchin mines, and the highlight - three pineapple fish!!! Viz was nice too :)

Here are some pictures:

I'd heard that it was a really good dive but to be honest I didnt really see much and the current was a bit annoying. Good exercise though!

A lot of people bag out Shelley beach but I think its a great dive personally. Probably helps that I only live 15 mins away too :)

Moray eel at Shelley?? I've done heaps of dives there and never seen one there! I'm jealous!

Actually there were two morays.... Nice shots Sas

I was pretty impressed by the size of the Maori Wrasse. they were HUGE! The pineapple fish were the biggest thrill tho.. thanks to eagle eye Sas!
