hi guys im looking to see if i can find few buddy that speak english /chinese to go diving in taiwan. I might luck out looking it on here.
Adv open water / Nitrox / drysuit 10 dives in currently. Im active in currently in vancouver but will be heading back there for 3 month and i'm bring my gears along hoping to get some dives in and few more trainning . Any details in terms of dive location wetsuit setup on info would be greatly appreciated.

Use the diiving in taiwan Fb group. There are dive ops but they are mostly part time operators that do mostly weekend diving. The diving here is pretty bland unless you like looking at rocks.

Just a few days ago one guy offering a 3 day 2 nights LOB with 10 dives max and dive times of 35-45 mins for over US$1000 and they think it's a good deal lol

You know nothing about diving in Republic of China(Taiwan).
Have you ever dived in Republic of China?

Looking at rocks!!!! LOL.
They are BIG Green Turtles in XLQ!!!!

I had never seen so many mature Green turtle in one site anywhere in SE Asia.

I had dived in three main locations on the island and they all situated on the South.
Diving is pretty good and please ignore #2(knew nothing about diving in Taiwan at all).
Most if not all dive sites are close to shore so boat dive is NOT that common but they are available(Green Island and Kenting).
You will notice all the local divers are using thick sole booties because of the topography of the entry to the sites ie walking on volcanic rock or dead coral.
Green Island(sea can be very rough). Kenting and Xiao Liu Qiu(XLQ) are the three areas that I had dived.
Taipei also has diving but I have no experience about it.
Oct is right at the end of the season.
BTW, there is such a thing as typhoon in the summer.

The biggest issue is the language as English is NOT that common.

You can ignore the other poster Centrals who knows sweet feck all about where I have been diving in Taiwan over the past near 4 decades I have lived here. I have that poster on ignore so I don't need to read the nonsense he posts. Many other members have also put him on ignore for good reason.

Yes I have seen some turtles... whoopdity doo.... It might be exciting for a new diver who never saw a turtle before but you can see them by snorkling as well.

Simply put diving in Taiwan is a part time business and not very well developed. The dive sites are fished out and also corals are destroyed by typhoons so even less marine life.

Green island is also rocky entrances at most places. One entry though has a 200m long concrete path out into the ocean and a jump off point. Not much to see though. I knew many people who dive here but none with dry suits. Penghu has the best diving I have done in Taiwan. Just very few people have time to do a trip there.

Yup typhoon hit pretty hard down south in the Chiayi area where I live.

You can see the rocky type of terrain you will get.

@Blackcrusader
40 yrs in Taiwan!!!! When did you arrive from conme china? You had forgotten where you originated from!!!
"Some members have me on ignore list' !!!! "Ostrich behaviour" LOL.
Not a single post from you about diving in ROC over the years? Because you know nothing about the local diving scene.

@oceanmatrix
Dry suit? I had never seen one in my three diving trips to Republic of China.
Green Island is a popular holiday destination in ROC therefore accommodation can be in big demand. Really need to book ahead especially in the summer.
Kenting is quite a distance from Taipei and the High Speed Train does not reach there.
Penyhu island is in my list.
Lanyu island(Orchid island), a very unique island with its own culture. Flying Fish Festival. Diving is available.
I have never been to both Lanyu and Penghu. I was going to Lanyu few yrs ago but Wuhan virus has other idea.

An extended trip to Kenting - Lanyu - Green island - Taitung.
Ferry departs from Houbihu Harbour in Kenting to Lanyu. There is ferry from Lanyu to Green Island and onward to Taitung in the mainland and vice versa.
If you want to hire a motor bike in Lanyu then you need at least a International Driving Permit with a motor cycle endorsement. No such requirement to hire an electric motor scooter in Green Island. You really need to read more about the requirement to hire motor bike/electric scooter in ROC.

guys chill out man. just looking for info not start a fight there enough is that bs i the world don't need to bring that to the underwater.

so penghu really only dive sites u would recommend me to go check out if i only have 1 dive in taiwan? people don't dive during winter?? wouldn't winter time be safer because there no typhoon o_O. and better viz... I need to sort out this before i leave vancouver and if i need my drysuit i need to buy one to bring if not i just wear 7 mm wetsuit i can buy in taiwan. if its a water temp issue then drysuit would work i dive in 8c water here in vancouver so why i'm so lost when people say its cold when water is 20c that bathtub temp for me. or is there no drysuit in taiwan? as for sites that still alive to this day would be apr

thanks for the website i'll check it out. Is there restoration happening in Taiwan in Southen part of the island?? thought there was talk in 2019 that they want to start something but did the materialize? if u know any info or connection that would be helpful.

ok green island and penghu keep coming up. I might visit kenting once i have my license because of the 1 more hour drive on taxi going be expansive. look like i have to check the two location
plan to get my IDP before i leave but u cant rent anything if u have ur idp i tried before no luck. i might just get my driver/motorbike license in taiwan again such pain in the As%

Keep your dry suit at home.
Public transport is very good in the country.

Several departing cities to chose from but Chiayi is my suggestion.
Chiayi is a interesting city to visit eg. Alisan and the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum. The harbour is in Budai.
License might not be necessary on Green Island for electric scooter please check.

"Underrated" is the word used.
Definitely not ROCKS!!! LOL.

Have fun.
