The results of last weeks shopping have just arrived on my desk, a TPII, a ATX40 reg set and a vytec. :)

The catch is that although they swore they would set up the hoses and test etc, they didn't, so I have to connect the LP hose from the wing to the first stage. Is this something a complete Newby should do themselves ? Have you any tips ? Or would you say 'NOOOO, leave it to the experts' ?

One thing to bare in mind is that I may not even get into a pool with this gear before my next holiday by which time I would hate for there to be a problem.

Thanks in advance

Conor

As long as you have the tools to remove the plug and tighten the LP hose *slightly*, you're all set. A very small amount of silicone grease on the o-ring would be nice, but it will live without if you don't have any.

Do NOT overtighten the LP hose into the first stage. Finger tight, then just a little nudge with a wrench.

Congrads on the new toys. The Vytec is really a piece of junk, so you can send it to me for disposal :D

It's pretty straightforward and I don't see why anyone with even a slight bit of mechanical aptitude shouldn't be able to handle it.

Just make sure the o-ring is clean and that you dont cross thread the hose. Hand tighten it then just snug it up with the appropriate size wrench.

It's an easy task, you have to have appropriate tools. If you need a positionig description it has been already posted on this board.

.........for the advice. I'm going to my LDS this weekend to get a few bits and pieces (clips and retainers and such) so I'll probably get a little silicon grease while I'm there.

I'll see if I can find the previous post you menioned.

I think I should be a bit more concerned about my girlfriend, as I reckon she will either get pissed off I spend the evening reading manuals and such or pissed off cos she wants the same set up herself.

Thanks again

What kinda clips and retainers? There might be better and less expensive solutions and you can use the $$ to take your g/f to dinner. Might help her get over your lack of attention! ;)

you could cause irreparable harm to the swaged trunion bearing.

Send it to me ASAP and our team of trained technicans will use the latest technology to perform this delicate, precision adjustment for you. The piece will be heat-treated, magnifluxed, shot-peened, and drop-tested to ensure maximum performance.

We are running a special for ScubaBoard members this week, only $129.99 + shipping.

Just kidding, do what the other guys said...

......that seems like such a good offer ;)

Sorry if I seem niave, its because I am, I thought it would be better to ask you guys than go home, do it myself, then jump into the red sea in a couple of months and have it all go to pieces. Better safe than majorly depressed.

Cave Diver; I was thinking about getting a couple of clips for the octopus and guage, so only about $5, but then again she does like McDonalds.....

One thing I just noticed, they have set up the two second stages and the guage all off the same side of the first stage, is this usual ? I haven't seen that before, but am guessing it doesn't make any difference, just I have a feeling it would leave my right side pretty cluttered.

It doesn't make a difference but I think that gauge should be on left and second stages on right.

Other HP can be used for computer air integration.
