I have an Atomic Regulator 1st stage / 2nd Stage. I was on a cave dive trip to FL, and was getting another deco regulator set made up. I also brought w/ me a HOG 1st stage/2nd Stage regulator setup.
This was my mistake, I should have only brought 1 setup.

Anyway something got switched around, and the Atomic 1st stage ended up on the 100% oxygen deco bottle, along w/ the HOG 2nd stage. I figured this out as i was doing my deco stop on the deco bottle....

I looked up after and the Atomic 1st stage is rated to 80% oxygen, the HOG is rated to 100%.
My question is should I get the Atomic 1st stage rebuild due to the fact that I ran pure 02 through it? Or will it be ok?

it's fine, don't worry about it. Wouldn't recommend doing it again, and not sure of how you got two very different regulators mixed up, but if it was fine underwater it is likely fine for the rest of the rebuild. If you're that concerned, put an IP gauge on it and make sure it still locks up, but it will be fine.

On a related note, I have several Atomic M1's rated for 80% Oxygen. Is there *really* an issue using them on 100% O2 bottle for deco?

same reason Poseidon says no nitrox use on their regulators except the dedicated deco bottles, and blue steel puts <40% O2 use on their valves, Faber stamps "do not overpressurize" on all of their LP bottles, CYOA policy

But you should probably just go with two HOG regulators and not have to worry about which one to use for what. I have a HOG that I would trade if you want

Nice knowing all of you cavalier cowboy SOBs. You're all going to be dead soon from all of that rule breaking. :D

Just to clarify for the OP: You wouldn't need to clean your reg because it was put on an O2 bottle. The problem is when you put a non-o2 cleaned reg on high pp oxygen (kinda like what you did). The non-clean reg could contain contaminants that could lead to ignition. You're reg is no worse off and the oxygen didn't damage anything. Your deco bottle is also unlikely to have contaminants in it like an air or nitrox bottle would.

LOL. Who wouldn't trade a HOG for an Atomic. I've got a cat turd I'll trade for your snickers bar too.

Thanks for the input & comments on this.
