Hello,

I've got a B1, and I'm thinking of swapping out the 2nd-stage purge cover to that used by the M1...is that an easy conversion ? (my B1 is a little sensitive to strong head on currents, and one of the selling points of the M1 is the fact that it's 2nd-stage cover is very resistant to being pushed in and free-flowing when facing currents.)

Thanks,

Karl

Yes, I did the same thing to stop the slight flow that I was getting when I was on a scooter because I didn't want to dial the second stage up and down all the time.
You need two parts, the cover itself and the bezel. The bezel serves the same function as the one on the B1 does, holding the cover onto the second stage body.
Buy the parts from your dealer, unscrew the B1 parts, screw on the M1 parts.

BTW, if you have the old version of the ring that holds the diaphragm, (this sits under the cover and bezel) it might also be a good idea at the same time to get the new one as it makes opening the second stage slightly easier. The old part is just a threaded plastic ring, the new one has ridges along it which makes it hold onto the cover, so you can use the cover to unscrew that ring if you need to get under the diaphragm. You could also do that with the old one, but you need to press in a little and might work less well if the threads are not in good condition.
The old part will work fine with the M1 cover/bezel, but this part only costs a few dollars, so why not...

Hi Paulwlee,

Thank you for the information/details...I'll place those parts on order with my LDS next week.
